We are expecting some rough air ahead, so if you would, please return to your seats, and fasten your seatbelts, return your trays to the upright and locked position. If further action becomes necessary, the cabin crew will inform you of this in a timely manner.
Yes, that’s right. It’s about to be a turbulent time for Tiger fans. There will be no more basking in the glow of January 7th. Think about what is facing Bayou Bengal supporters at the moment:
- Rumors that Ryan Perrilloux is/will be off the football team. I put this out there in my previous post, but here is the nuts and bolts. There are rumors that RP has cleaned out his locker, and that there was a meeting with him, his mother, and the coaches that did not go so well. Speculation is that Perrilloux was not meeting some of the conditions put upon him by the coaches for him to remain on the team. Perrilloux has had some well documented off-the-field troubles before, so when rumors like this surface, it is hard not to think there is a kernal of truth. However, his father died recently, and it could be that RP’s absence was due to that. No one really knows if he is absent, and if he is, why. As yet, nothing definite, so all of this is just speculation. According to this story in the Daily Reveille, Miles will likely have to field RP questions in a press conference today. So hopefully we will know more then.
- LSU is looking for a basketball coach.
- LSU is also looking for an Athletic Director.
- LSU is also searching for a Chancellor.
- Ideally, the AD would conduct the basketball coach search, but the AD is leaving.
- Ideally, the Chancellor would conduct a search for new AD, but there is no Chancellor at the moment.
- So the only person remotely accountable for these changes is John Lombardi, the LSU System President, and he has just finished putting together a Chancellor search committee. According to this article in the Advocate, two different search firms are engaged in filling those three different positions. So who knows who is going to take the fall if the AD hire is bad? Or the Basketball Coach? Regardless, it is safe to say that this is a period of certain uncertainty.
- What all this means is that LSU athletics is going to look very different come the fall. A new AD and a new Basketball Coach will change significantly the way things look around LSU.
- LSU Baseball is picked to finish 5th in the SEC West.
Yeah, not a lot of hope for the next few months, at least we can all focus on football again, and even that may have some nasty surprises. So buckle up and hold on to the arm-rests, because we are going to be white-knuckling for awhile.
