We have seen plenty of movement in the BCS in the last few weeks, so let’s get to the Rank News:
- The Missouri Tigers are your new BCS #1. They defeated previous #2 Kansas 36-28 on Saturday, and jumped West Virginia to land in the #1 spot. The work is not done for Mizzou, though, they have to face OU – the team that beat them earlier this year – in the Big 12 Championship game this weekend.
- The other Tigers, LSU, dropped to #7 in the BCS. The Bayou Bengals are paying the price for losing at home to unranked Arkansas. The Tigers are one spot behind Virginia Tech, a team they beat 48-7 earlier this year. Not that I am complaining about the ranking – if LSU had taken care of business against Kentucky or Arkansas, they wouldn’t be in this position.
- LSU only fell to #5 in the AP poll, not that it matters.
Coaching Carousel News:
- According to Mgoblog there are rumors going around that Kirk Ferentz has been offered the Michigan job. This would obviously affect LSU greatly, as that would mean we would hold on to Les. Brian at Mgoblog is careful to point out that it is rumor, but it seems like a pretty strong rumor to me. There are further rumors that he has accepted, but these are not as strong.
- Bo Pelini interviewed for the Nebraska job on Sunday, Tom Osbourne plans to interview Turner Gill next. I am not the only Tiger fan who would not be upset to see Pelini go.
- There are reports that Ole Miss has made contact with Rick Neuheisel. (HT: Parrish Alford)
On to some rankings:
Here are my top 5 teams in the nation:
- Mizzou – they have backed into this spot, but everybody else has backed out of it.
- Ohio State man, I hate putting them here, but who else am I gonna put here?
- Georgia – they are hot, they are playing with attitude, I am glad LSU won’t face them in the SEC title game.
- LSU – I am giving them a break because both losses were in triple overtime
- USC – coming together and they are headed to the Rose Bowl – who doubted them? (*looking around guiltily*)
My nonexistent Heisman Ballot:
- Timmay
- Timmay
- Timmay
- Timmay
- D-Mac/Chase Daniel
I think they should only invite Timmay to the ceremony, and put cardboard cut-outs of him in the other 4 chairs. Odds that Timmay will thank the following:
- Urban Meyer: 3-2
- His teammates: 2-1
- His family: 1-1
- Being High on Life with Jesus: 5-4
- Orson Swindle: 4-1
- Balco: 10-1
- The Dark Lord Satan: 100-1
Is it just me, or will this be the second UF quarterback in the last two years to win the Heisman and then give a sermonette from the podium?
The Season’s Most disappointing teams:
- USC - didn’t we hear all preseason about how they had 10 stud running backs on the roster?
- Nebraska – sure, Callahan did change the offense, but his defense only had two calls: “hole” and “sieve.”
- LSU – Started like a werewolf with chainsaw genitalia, ended like spayed yorkie.
- Notre Dame – How do they feel about that 10 year extension now?
- Bama – Stomped Vols, then lost to LSU, MSU, ULM, and Auburn all in a row. The people are growing restless at the rule of the Nicktator.
