Well, we have had two weeks of just plain nutty football, and now everyone has had a chance to recover their breath after another insane Saturday. With that being said, here are some random thoughts from around the SEC and college football.
- On September the 14th, I wrote about the USC-Nebraska game: “I think this is the one where John David channels his older brother Josh pulls a loss out of his, er, butt. Huskers 17-10.” Obviously, I was wrong about that game, but I was right about JDB. Calls for Mark Sanchez to start over Booty are getting louder. I could have told them this when he went out there. LSU fans are well acquainted with Booty-quality play in his brothers Abram and Josh. Both of them were ultimately disappointing, and it appears that JD will be, too. Ironic, isn’t it, that USC is now suffering in the same way that LSU did 8 years ago.
- Les Miles has gone from goofy idiot in hat to coaching genius. Not just on this site, but also other places: SMQ and here. This picture says it all.
- Orson Swindle – a Gator fan and Swamp veteran – found LSU’s atmosphere to be everything it is cracked up to be.
- The favorite in the Pa-10 has to be Cal, who gets USC at home. It is weird to say/write that, but it’s true.
- Ohio State has moved back up the standings. Do they want another trip to the BCS title game against an SEC champion?
- With all of the upsets this season, it is entirely possible that LSU will lose in the second half of the season. I fear Auburn, Bama, and Arkansas the most. I am not counting the SEC title game, which if they get there, scares me, too, especially if it’s Florida.
- Now that the Gators have 2 SEC losses, the Vols may now be a factor in the SECE. They have already played Florida and UGA. They still have to face South Carolina and Kentucky, but things look good for them right now.
- Ditto for South Carolina, but they still have to play Florida. Honestly, I don’t think that Florida will lose again this year, and I think that will doom the Cocks.
- Speaking of UGA, what happened to them this weekend? I know that their fans are feeling riotous, and I don’t think the antipathy stops at Matthew Stafford or even Willie Martinez. I think it goes all the way to Mark Richt.
