Props to Changemaker over at Bulldog Barks and Bytes, who in a November 2006 post called for the termination of Jim Oakes and Jack Bicknell. Obviously, since then Bicknell has been fired, but Oakes is still there. The post is rather long, but if you scroll to the bottom, he has provided lots of statistics – such as athletic budget and attendence – about the Tech athletic program that prove that is is really just a I-AA program! Anyway, check it out.

Louisiana Sports sucks anyway. Why waste time talking about it
I guess today is bash Tech day…alright, I’ll play. Does Tech have problems? Sure. Are they any different than the problems of MANY non-BCS programs? Some are, some aren’t. The prevailing attitude on this site seems to be that if you aren’t USC or LSU, you should just quit. That’s ridiculous. I want one of you proponents of Tech moving down to FCS to provide me with NUMBERS that support your opinion. Until you’ve got evidence that we would make more money in FCS, I’ll be willing to listen. As it stands right now, you just want us to move down because you don’t think we can compete. The numbers prove you wrong as we have a better winning percentage than ULL and ULM over the last 5 years. I guess they should drop down too. What you people fail to realize is that the same attitude that has us dwelling at the bottom of the FBS (an attitude that is changing as we speak…if you would ever come to Ruston on a game day instead of worshipping at the house that Huey P built, you would know that) would just as soon have us at the bottom of FCS too. When you are not competing, you must improve. Finding less competitive teams is not the answer.
I’ll be waiting on the logical post about why moving to FCS makes financial sense. As it is right now, most of you just want to lessen your guilt about cheering for LSU over your alma mater.
